Karana was a Klingon concubine who lived outside the Imperial Stables during the Second Dynasty.
After the fall of that dynasty, Karana was given the name and title of Shenara, daughter of Emperor Reclaw, when the Third Dynasty came to power, in an effort to make it appear as though the royal family's lineage remained unbroken. Karana was Sirella's 23rd maternal grandmother. (DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited")
