Dear Friend,
I founded the Internet Archive as a non-profit with a huge goal: to give everyone access to all knowledge—the books, web pages, audio, television and software of our shared human culture. Forever.
Together we are building the digital library of the future. A place where we can all go to learn and explore.
At the Internet Archive, people download 20 million books each month. We preserve one billion Web captures a week and provide them to you for free in the Wayback Machine. The key is to keep improving—and to keep it free. That’s where you can help us.
The Internet Archive has only 170 staff but runs the ~#250 website in the world. We don’t run ads. We don’t sell your personal information. But we still need to pay for servers, staff and rent.
For the cost of buying a book, you can make a book permanently available for the next generation. Please consider donating $25, $50, $75, or whatever you can afford to support Internet Archive. It’s a small amount to inform millions. Help us do more.
Thank you.

Technology: We preserve 1 billion Web captures per week! We’ve saved 20 petabytes (that’s 20,000,000,000,000,000 bytes) of data. That takes a lot of servers, bandwidth and power. The cost of storing information in our data centers is a fraction of the cost of Amazon Cloud.
Staff: Most top websites employ huge staffs. We employ 170 people around the world—engineers, archivists, librarians and book scanners. Most of our staff could be making much more at a company driven by profit, but they choose to work for a non-profit powered by a huge mission.
Projects: This year we are building the next-generation Wayback Machine, including for the first time a Wayback Website Search engine.
