Excelsior II

This is an update to the Excelsior II file found here: http://armada2.filefront.com/file/;80535

This edited version, changes the nacelles, giving them a more 'Excelsior-II' look to them. Those nacelles on the previous version seemed to resemble a new designed set, more so than the nacelles you'd expect to see on a refitted Excelsior (at least, in my opinion).

Likewise, and with more changes, the textures have been edited also, this time, to include light maps (alpha channels), along with the phaser arrays on the saucer moved. Those before seemed a little cramped up, especially when compared to the Excelsior of TMP / TNG.

Overall, to me, this is the better design of the two, and the changes do it Justice. However, there will be those who feel the other is the better ship, and with that, the file is still avaliable to download. This one would almost feature as an Editors Choice / Directors Cut or something.

"Excelsior II Class"

To withstand the formidable ships of the Dominion, Starfleet decided to improve units of the Excelsior Class Refit. The result was the Excelsior II, ouyfitted with a new stardrive, new nacelles and stronger shields.These ships performed very well and were more than a match for enemy ships. Starfleet Command, however, opted for the Akira Class, as these were easier and cheaper to build. The Excelsior II units were widely used in all kind of actions.

This model has been edited. Better textures give the ship more suitable nacelles.
