This is my Version of the Venerable P81 Excelsior and the Refit version of that Class. This pack comes with all the my normal bells and whistles; LODs, multiple variants, and hero ships. In addition there are several improved phaser sprites included in this pack.

Now I list another model pack, the Constitution pack, as a requierment for this pack. Due to problems with the upload system that pack is not currently up on the sight. However I will include a link in the comments section for you until the system is fixed. Assuming the download problem will still remain a link for the Excelsior pack will also be in the commentsection untill the system is fixed. I'll get both links up as quickly as I can but there may be a small period of time between the staff posting the page and my getting back to put up the links so please be patient.


Excelsior Class Model Pack

Thank you for downloading this and for taking the time to read the readme file. This mod for A2 Version 1.1. Everything you need to run in game is present.

Note - You will need the Constitution Class pack for the Torpedo sprites and Damage textures. Also There has been several changes to the phasers including new sprites and files. This required changes to several of the ship files so the changed ship odfs have been included to bring the Constitution Class pack up to date.

1 - Installation

Backup any files that will be overwritten if you wish to save them. Not Needed but is smart incase you or I make a mistake.

Unzip this into a temp or mod directory in your A2 install.

Copy the contents of each folder into the matching folders of you chosen A2 install.

Overwrite any requested files.

Now go to your sprite directory and open the gui_global.SPR file and goto the end of the Fed build boutons and after

Now you will have to add any unites you want buildable to your tech1.tt file. I recommend that you add at least these hulls to the end of your fed ship list in the file

Now add any buildable ships to the yards to have chosen. Remeber no yard can have more then 13 ship listed to build. so you might need additional yards to list all of these ships. Ships not in the tech1 file won't be buildable and may cause a CTD. For those converting this to FO Hero ships may be best empoloied as warpin units.

2 - System Requirements

This mod is designed to work best with stock 1.1 A2. The models are high quality models with high quality textures averaging between 5000 and 6400 polies; however every effort has been made to maintain proformance. This includes 5 Levels Of Detail for both the texturs and the mesh. Inspite of this older PCs, especially thoughs with less the 256MG of Ram or less then 128MG vid card might have problems with lag. I recommend min 1gig of ram on all Pentium 4 PCs and older to use this. Newer PCs with DDR2 and better RAM shouldn't have major problems however each Computer is different and individual experiance will vary.

3 - Online Multiplayer

As long as you and your opponets intalls are EXACTLY THE SAME this should work online but it has not been tested in multiplayer.

4 - Known Issues

None known. That said if you find any bugs please report them. so I can fix them the next go around.

This mod was NOT designed with Fleet Ops in mind. There may be various odf coding inconsitencies with the current version of FO or required files missing. You will have to make need correction or costruct missing files yourself for FO conversion as I'm not an expert there and don't currently play FO for lack of time. I'm not done moding stock A2 yet and will get to FO when I am.

Hosting, or any other form of distribution is hereby forbidden without prior written permission. The use in Armada II Modifications is allowed as per section 8 below. This mod is strictly for non-profit use. I don't own the rights to all of this stuff and so couldn't give you permission to charge for it even if I wanted too.

The reasons for this are fairly simple

1) We want to know where our files are being downloaded from!

2) We would prefer only having a few download mirrors because its considerably easier to update a smaller number of mirrors.

8 - Third party use

Lastly, the material can be reused in whole or part in Armada 2 Modifications on the condition that ALL ABOVE credits are in your readme. If you wish to convert these graphics to another game then please contact us. (we haven't ever turned anybody down, we just want to keep track of what they are being used for)
