Aegean Class Aegean Class

This is a new Aegean Mesh, converted, hardpointed and made worthy for use in Armada II. The mesh has been on A2Files for quite some time, though if I recall, few people have actually done anything with it, nor released it, at least, not until now. Therefore, I present you with a new Aegean model for use as that little frigate, that always gets destroyed Wink

Quite easy on the poly count too, I'd suggest a download for all fans.

This is a totally rebuilt Aegean Class. The model was originally intended for
Starfleet Command, but it ran smoothly in Armada 1 and 2 so [Interstellar Machine]
decided to release it as such. It has 904+ polies.

Converted to Armada 2 .SOD format by Exodus_499

A - Backups

1. Backup "ffrigate.sod" (located in the SOD folder of your main Armada 2 directory,
usually "C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II") and "ffrigate.odf"
(in "...\odf\ships") to a seperate folder - I usually make a new one on my
Desktop.

2. Also move (actually move, not just copy) all the files called "ffrigate..." from
the textures folder ("...Star Trek Armada II\Textures\RGB") to your new backup
folder. If you can't see them immediately, check you are in the correct folder
and searh within it (using the Search function) for "ffrigate*" (w/o the qoutes,
but WITH THE STAR).

B - Installation - The easy bit!

1. Simply unzip the files into a new file, and put the folders "Textures", "SOD",
"odf" and "bitmaps" into your Armada 2 Directory
("C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II", remember?). When asked if you
want to averwrite, say yes.

2. You're done! That's it - play the game and build an Aegean just like you used to
(or didn't). If something goes wrong, or you dont like it, simply chech through
the files you added and put the originals back in their places.

I dont like it I'm sorry to say.

The textures are far too bland and bright, and I actually prefered the stock textures AND model. Plus, are those escape pods? Whatever they are, they're far to noticeable.

Stay tuned for an excellent version pretty soon by Chiletrek. ;-)

Ouch, first bad review... Sorry Exodus_499.

I for one love it. I think it's an improvement of the stock model.

Glad to see someone actually did something with the original mesh. Nice work :-)

Hello:

Well, it was about time somebody would care of that pretty model and made it fully playable in Armada2. I didn't do that since I was working revamping (and adding missing details) to the stock Aegian class.

Welcome to Armada2files Exodus_499, I hope we can enjoy more of your mods soon Rock

And what is that cool stock Kitbashing barely visible in your pic?, I think it will be most interesting to see it flying over here soon, and for what can I see, we'll all like the job you have done :D

Hello:

Sorry for the double post.

Drakall, thank you very much for your confidence, I'll try t release my Aegian (and my other revampings) as soon as possible :-)

The escape pods are far too big.
#6 AdmarilRyan 2007-07-02 16:45
someone finally converted this, lol

yea, could do with a better texture, but it beats the stock by miles. As for the escape pods, it isn't a very big ship, the windows next to them show the lining of the deck, and it shows clearly that each one is simply the height of the deck it is on.

Oh just for the record Chiletrek, I'm darkslide in disguise. ;]

Someones got darkslide I think on STA2files... So I hadta go for Drakall.

No problem though.

Thanks everyone - I agree that the textures are a slightly different colour than usual... But really they do fit the ship in every way other than that. Also, I made sure that the original ODF works with this as well - it was just scaling that I had to alter.

@ Chiletrek: The ship just caught on the screenshot is my next release, in stock textures (I was hoping someone would notice that, I thught it was too obvious)... It's basically a simple kitbash, but I think it looks cool. I haven't decided on a name, but it looks similar to the Mozart class.

Hello:

I tried to google for that ship but I couldn't find anything (maybe I should look for it in a better way), but it's good I found nothing, so I won't spoil the surprise :D

I look forward for your ship, maybe we will soon see it together with my Galaxy and Nebula variants exploring the alpha quadrant Rock

This is a pretty decent ship, though I do agree that the escape pods are a little big, but not a big deal, and the texture is a little on the grey side, a whiter texture might be more appropriate. The stock aegian class is actually one of the better models in the game (as compared with stock galaxy), it's a shame we don't have that many aegians on this site. 8.5/10
