A while back, R5D5 put together a low-poly ship pack of Federation vessels based somewhere on the later side of the Lost Era. One of these ships was called the Starchaser; it has a massive deflector dish in front, a pair of quad torpedo launchers on the underside of the saucer, and a sort of graceful design which actually used its low-poly saucer as a design feature. R5D5's mod pack proved that low-poly and brand-new designs can be the same thing, and can look good doing it.

This new variant of the Starchaser goes in an altogether different direction. It carries a "hangar-pod" on the back of its engineering-hull and can build a scout-probe and four variants of fighters/scouts. Some of these birds were part of the original ship pack. Others are brand new and look the part.

New work from R5D5 is always a welcome thing. It might take a little time to get used to, since it looks awkward (it's not a through-deck carrier, for instance), but it works fairly well in stock A2 and just might be what your A2 mod has been looking for.

I really liked the original Starchaser because it was so... unique. This is also a unique ship. The carrier pod doesn't look very aesthetic, but this makes the design even more interesting. I think I'll like this new ship. :-)

The Description of this mod mentions the lost era. What is the lost era? I figured it meant the alternate reality made by the new movie but that ships warp nacelles don't match. I'm confused.

The period between Star Trek VI and The Next Generation was about seventy-five years' worth of time, known as the Lost Era in the fandom.

An alternative description: Everything that happened between the launch of NCC-1701-B and the launch of NCC-1701-D. The most famous starship of this era would be the Ambassador, although many of the Excelsiors also served in this time .

I LOVED the original Starchaser, it's one of the heavy-hitting rare vessels you desperately try to get in my game. And it's even more fun to use in STvsSW games. This carrier variant just makes the Starchaser family even more awesome! I love the little AWACs craft!

It looks quite weird. Ship looks veery massive according to windows size, but on the other hand when you compare it with shuttles it should be smaller than miranda..

I like that the ships setting was in the "Lost Era" for times I ahve pondered

"what could be" of that time period. As I am reading about this pack and it Vessel I have grown quite fond of her. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy original ideas and try to encourage them. The low poly and working with it, was Brilliant!
