Fleet Operations is a modification for Activision's Star trek Armada II.
As Armada II is much different from what everybody thought the successor of
Armada I should be, we started some month ago to change the philosophy of the
game. The objective of our mod is to bring the game back to the Star Trek
root. We do not believe in the sens of creating big fleets within seconds
and battles based on the pure number of materials. We do not see benefits of
an unbalanced weight between the races. Our mod is based on the conviction
that each ship should have its defined task and does not loose its importance
during the game. We designed each ship new with more realistic textures.
Each race has its single new designed techtree. We introduced a credit system
that gives you the possibility to create a certain number of race specific
special ships. We designed new surroundings for the maps, more realistic
asteriod fields, more animated star maps to increase perception of the game.

Q: Have i to install the official Armada II 1.1 Patch before installing
Fleet Operations?
A: Nope, you don't, all required files are included in the Setup package, you
even don't need a preinstalled Armada II. Setup will copy all required
files from your CD.

Q: What are the credits for and why are there no more officers?
A: The resource managment in Fleet Operations has been redone, so officers,
as a maximum limit for normal vessels are no longer required. Credits can
be spend on special vessels, technologies or buildings, depending
on which race you play.

Q: Why is there no warp available in Fleet Operations?
A: The warp capability of all vessels has been removed. Although maps are
larger in Armada II than in Armada I, warp capable ships could reach any
point of the map within seconds. To allow a more strategic accented
gameplay with positioning fleets on strategic important positions and so
on only impulse speed is available (like it was in Armada I).

Q: Where is the third dimension gone? i can't move my ships in height!
A: The third dimension - the 'height' of a map - has been reduced to a new
default, this is a feature introduced with Armada II which is more
obstructive than useful for strategic gameplay.

Q: I have made a custom map for Fleet Operations, can i send it to you, so
you put it in the next release of Fleet Operations?
A: You can send your custom map to docacola@borgcore.de. If we like your map
we will include it in the next release. A map section on the homepage is
planned if enough maps arrives us.

Q: Can i use ships/textures/files from Fleet Operations for my mod?
A: No, not with prior request to us.
